Academic specialization: Literature, Cultural and Linguistic Studies.

Academic career: Dr. Ana Garrido González graduated in philology at the Santiago de Compostela University. She has had education in Galician, Spanish and Portuguese language, literature and history. She has postgraduate studies in didactics and in teaching of Spanish and Galician as a foreign language. She has worked as a teacher in the secondary education, adult education and specialized language training (administrative and legal language) in Spain. Additionally, she was a Spanish as a foreign language teacher and is an accredited DELE examiner.  In 2010 she started to work as a Galician lecturer at the University of Warsaw (UW) and as a Spanish teacher at the Cervantes Institute in Warsaw (IC), where she was a Spanish as a foreign language teacher and an accredited DELE examiner.

In 2013 she started her PhD studies under the supervision of Professor Tadeusz Miłkowski with the assistance of Professor Katarzyna Moszczyńska. In June 2019 she successfully defended her PhD thesis Emigration and identity: the representation of the absence as an affirmation in Galician literature (1936-1971): the "living widow" in exile contexts.

She has participated in several international conferences held at the universities of Spain, Argentina, UK, Ireland, Germany and Italy. She has done research and teaching stays in the department Estudis Gallecs i Portuguesos, University of Barcelona (under the supervision of Professor Helena González Fernández) and department de Filoloxía galega de la USC (under the supervision of Professor Dolores Vilavedra). She is co-editor of five monographs and a collective dossier. She was also co-director of the organizing committee of several the international conferences.

Awards:

 

  • Xohana Torres Essay Award 2019 for the monograph “Xohana Torres: da viúva de vivo á muller navegante”, which will be published by the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2020.
